THE SWANKY'S were formed around 1982 in Hakata, Fukuoka. Their sound, combining destructive speed with primal energy, carved a unique position in Japan's underground punk scene. They are highly regarded among overseas punk collectors and diggers, with original pressings known as rare and hard-to-find items.

In the 1980s, Hakata was a major hub of Japan's punk scene alongside Tokyo and Osaka. THE SWANKY'S were at the center of this scene, contributing to numerous self-released records and compilations. However, their recordings were unavailable digitally for years, becoming near-mythical lost tracks. RECHRO clarified the rights and, after remastering, achieved worldwide distribution.
